The Bad

Let's start off with the bad first, shall we?

1. Apple Maps

Now here is the major kick in the balls for people who love going out, but rely heavily on public transportation.

THERE'S NO ****ING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION MAPS

Seriously Apple?

Oh wait, it gets better.


Apple has decided to take out turn by turn navigation for the iPhone 4 and any other Non-Siri iOS 6 capable device.

Apple also decided to limit the 3D feature to the iPhone 4S only.


Yup, Apple fell flat on it's face here. Let's move on.


2. Still no widgets.


Now some people say this isn't very Apple. They say that it's not something they do. But I'm not asking for huge weather widgets and enormous facebook widgets that we see on Android, I just want my weather app to show me the weather without having to enter it. I just want to see a small facebook feed somewhere on the screen.

This is personal preference, so technically this isn't really a bad. It's something that many people including me wanted. Moving on.


The Good

Luckily there is still light at the end of the tunnel. Looking past Maps (Which is a MAJOR letdown)

Yes finally, something that has been on Android for years has finally come to iOS. Let's take a look at it.It's exactly what I expected from Apple. It's a great and easy to use feature that sort of easy to use "widget" that is in your notification center. You tap it, and the screen above comes up. There you can update your Facebook status.

As well as it being in your notification center, it also is found in your photos app, which you can also use to quickly share your photos/videos to Facebook. All with locations as well.

Siri



Yes finally, something that would actually make me consider purchasing a phone simply for Siri.

Passbook?

Frankly, I may be alone on this. However when's the last time you have seen someone wave their iPhone in front of a scanner before?

I guess it's a nifty new feature that could actually be something amazing. It doesn't work in the initial beta release so I can't judge this right now.

Mail

Not too much has been added. Perhaps a few more fancy animations. However VIP is a great feature that allows you to quickly access your important people via mail much easier. However, I prefer Sparrow for mail.

Safari

2 things:

-iCloud saves Safari tabs.
- Safari now saves web pages instead of links for your reading list. So now you no longer need an internet connection to view them.

Voice Dialing Features

The is also a "Do not disturb" feature, that silences incoming calls and notifications except from people on your "VIP" list.



So before you go show boating about iOS 6. Take a look, and think. Was it really worth the wait?

I know it wasn't for me, as I speak I am downgrading to iOS 5.1.1

this is why Apple is going to fail without Steve Jobs.
I give them another 10 years max.

One great thing on iOS6 is that now you can upload images and stuff to safari. If you don't know what I mean search for videos on YouTube and add it to the list

Im not really interested in ios6 much for my ipad2. We aren't getting Siri and there's not much new after that. The Facebook thing I could care less about and I never use maps on my iPad anyways (android is better for that).

Everyone saying iOS 6 isn't anything new or good. Its in beta 1 for christ's sake! Not the full fucking release! /facepalm

Maps are going to remain unchanged. Apple even stated that. No pub transport etc. in maps is permanent. Maybe the maps will get better, but that's about it.

Edit:

Another thing. People always say "OMG it's just a Beta" for iOS 6. Even though it's really just a side step. And everyone has a shit storm when Windows 8 on a tablet has a small glitch moths before it's release.

iOS has had years to improve on phones, and it has been the exact same thing for 3 years. Are people that afraid of change?

Better yet... this is why Apple is so popular, I mean I don't know how they manage to convince the customers with just a few features every 12 months when Android already have all those great features, the thing is that I'm one of those. Apple know their market and customers, that's how they do it.

How are you judging maps and other things on iOS 6 when it is still on the beta process? That's why it is called "Beta" and not "Full" version, because they still have to fix, add, and tweak things. Let it come, and then we make the final judge.


Again, they know how to do their business, I'm pretty sure that if you wanted "ALL" those things that Android has, you would just choose Android instead of iOS. It is like many games that try to copy COD, if you want those things that COD has, then why not just go to COD? instead choosing a different game that is trying to be like it?

Not defending Apple here, but just pointing out how business work, that's a strategy and that's how you and I won't get bored really fast, because BIG changes in something is already GOOD is the way to go down.

The TMAP processor in the new Surface tablet froze like 3-4 times in the demonstration that the guy was giving. I showed my dad who has the iPad 2 and he just starts laughing

How can people judge the Windows tablet for freezing months before it was even released?

The things that I am judging are going to stay the same. Things like turn by turn and abandoning all other iDevices that are not a 4s/iPad 3 are permanent. Things like no public transportation have already been confirmed not to ever happen. Apple themselves stated it. I know that things such as the maps themselves will improve, that is a given. But certain things will remain the same. And those things that are remaining the same are crucial to an integrated approach that Apple has been taking for it's entire life as a company.

I was patient with iOS for years. I gave it time and I was excited when iOS 6 was announced. Frankly, people need change. The human race must push forward, you cannot be dwelling in the past. The iOS platform has gotten very stale now, and there are a lot of things that they are behind on. iOS 6 will come with the iPhone 5 giving a clear indication that it won't be the greatest thing ever. It's just going to be another minimal upgrade and a huge side step for iOS.

I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to in the bottom part of your post. As Apple has had no BIG changes. Android has had LEAPS.



Right. That's really related to what I said. It froze once really, that that was a software bug. Not a hardware bug. Go look at iOS 6 and see how many flaws it has, and it's at a later point in development than Win 8 is. The fucking settings app crashes just from a simple swipe up and down.

Again, it's fair. I'm comparing beta to beta here. And keep in mind Microsoft don't have much experience in this field.
