As you guys know, jailbreaking automatically voids your warranty. So many questions, and no one has created an answer. So here is your answer based on my following testimonial.

The glory of Cydia

Jailbreaking is awesome. It allows us to do the shit Apple doesn't.
If you've reached this thread by Google, because you're scared that jailbreaking will screw up your phone, I assure you, it won't. Don't get me wrong. Let's throw rations around real quick to give you an idea. I have an iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPod 4th Gen, and an iPad 2, all jailbroken. None have ever experienced any problems. Except my iPad 2, which is what this thread is based on. To learn more about jailbreaking, please go You must login or register to view this content. to see the awesome.

Now let's begin ladies and gentlemen. I had my iPad 2 since September 25th, of 2012 as a birthday gift from my wife. As soon as I got home, I jailbroke it. It was running 5.1.1, and that was the best jailbreak available at the time. Well, I was having issues with Cydia, and tweaks, and other things, so I said screw it, I'll update it. I went ahead and updated it to iOS 6.0. All of this happened in December, right after Christmas. Well, come January, I had let my sister-in-law use the iPad, and she watched a lot of movies and crap on it, such as streaming, and blah. I ASSUME it was her, but you can never be certain. There could always be a flaw we don't know about until it's too late. What happened to this glorious machine, you ask? The sound cut out, and in, constantly. It pissed me off. I just ignored it the best I could, and said screw it.

Low and behold, a jailbreak for iOS 6.0 came out, and I was on it that same night it was released, along with a few million other people. The sound didn't have anymore problems after I did this, so I laughed about it, and said ok. Imagine that. The jailbreak fixed the issue. About a week later, it came back. I said **** it, I'm sending it back to Apple. But know this, yes my iPad 2 was still jailbroken at this time on iOS 6.0. I told them I did the restore, and all that jazz, and they said they'll pay for shipping, go drop it off at UPS, which I did. But please note, RESTORE your device FIRST. You have to restore it, or if you send it back to them with the jailbreak on it, lol, they'll ship it back and be like NO. So after a few days, I got it back. Literally 3 days.

Inside the box, it read, "We couldn't get the device to do what you were saying was wrong with it, so we could not fix it."...(Something simliar to this.) So I thought to myself, ok you little bastards.

I thought I'd go ahead and jailbreak it again. It had a new firmware update available at this time, so I updated to it, and re-jailbroke it again. Lol, I love it. The sound thing got annoying, so I called them back about two weeks later, and told them to fix it. I sent it off again, and a day later, I had this EMAIL stating they found something wrong with it, and I had to pay $29 for a new iPad, plus have a $399 hold on my credit card until they received my old iPad back once they ship it back to me, or I could have the device recycled, or I could pay an even $230 to get it repaired. I said oh shit. They found my jailbreak.. I DO KNOW it's possible, but it's a pain in the ass for Apple to do it, and it consists them of doing ten times more work, and they'd have to be specifically looking to see if you had jailbroke it. I don't think they'd go through the trouble. Ever. Unless they're just literally 'out to get you.'

So I called, and asked what the hell was going on, and it turned out, my headphone jack had a tiny dent in it, and my charging port down at the bottom had a couple of those gold metal prong things bent...They said I was "abusive to my hardware."

I laughed, and told them no. I was so scared to touch that damn thing because it's all glass, and I've never dropped it. I got a hold of a customer service specialist, and she was funny, and we joked around about it because we both had worked at Best Buy before, and the shit we've seen...so she told me what they'd do is give me a refurbished iPad 2, because they don't know what's wrong with mine. I told her sure, no problem. So two days later- I got a very nice, very new looking with absolutely no issues, scratches, nothing- iPad 2.

The moral of this story...if you ever have issues with your A-device, and it IS jailbroken, do not fear. They won't check for it. If you have to send it in, RESTORE IT. If you are unable to restore your device due to some other problem, then you knew the risks of jailbreaking, and voiding the warranty. Most of the time, there are ways to get your device fixed. I shipped my jailbroken iPad 2 back to Apple TWICE, and it wasn't recognized.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you guys like this interesting story/thread.
