Plus cydia is a really slow app now scene there are so many packages. I use Rock, it's by far the fastest installer out there. Its also better than Icy, which I never liked. Rock is the best, becuase it tackes all of the sources from cydia, Icy, original installer, and stores them on a data base so the app can run smothly. also a perk to Rock is you sign up with them and everything you download gets stored in there system, meaning next firmware update, you dont need to remember every app, or theme you had.

Actually a lot of people use Cydia. The RIPdev team has decided to close it's doors due to many reasons they will not say unless needed too. The RIPdev has nothing to do with Cydia's servers. They do have their Cydia repository that will be operational until at least next year so users who liked and paid for their products will be able to (re)install.

I agree with you fully that Cydia is slow, it's ridiculous how long it takes to load.

you should give Rock a try, I think its Far superior. Also about that RIPDev info, that was stuff i read on Tysiphonehelp.com a while back, RIPDev is closing, but what his own post was cydia, probubly will be following them soon, becuase there the slowest installer.
