With AT&T it's easy. Google will help. If it's Verizon or Sprint, you're out of there. You have to pay over $100 to get it unlocked. There is no jailbreak tweak to unlock these devices and probably never will be.

This question is irrelevant but thought I'd post it here because I don't want to create a whole new thread, but is there a method on getting rid of bad ESN through a jailbreak tweak or something similar? The original carrier was Verizon.

You can change it so that it may work on verizon again by copying a good phones ESN to the bad one but its illegal to do. Also another way would be to unlock it and set it up with another carrier.

Oh, alright. I'll just get it unlocked and set it up with a prepaid sim. Thanks for the help!

Yeah np, just google search it... Usually if you take it to phone repair shops they will unlock the phone for you. Just ask around locally. If not google will be your best bet. Also redsn0w website has an unlock tab. You find it useful.

You could try restoring and seeing if you have any backups, If not.. You're out of luck and you will have to restore your phone and start from scratch.
