“Today we are launching the biggest advancement in the history of the iPhone,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said at the start of the company’s press event in Cupertino, Calif., where Apple is headquartered.

As rumored, the phones will be sized at 4.7 and 5.5 inches, sporting resolutions of 1334 x 750 and 1920 x 1080, respectively. The "new generation" of displays, according to Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, include 38 percent and 185 percent more pixels than the iPhone 5 devices. He also said that the phones are the thinnest Apple has ever made and have equal or better battery life compared to the iPhone 5S.

Both iPhone 6 units will be available in gold, silver and space gray, just like the iPhone 5S. With a two-year contract, iPhone 6 will be priced at $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 32 GB and $399 for 64 GB. Also with a two-year contract, iPhone 6 Plus begins at $299, $399 and $499 at the same storage options. Both will begin shipping on Sept. 19 in the U.S. and eight other countries. Pre-orders will begin on Friday, Sept. 12. Apple's goal is to be in 115 countries by the end of the year.

A camera protrudes a bit out the back. While it has a new sensor, the camera is still 8 megapixels. However, the camera does a better job of recognizing faces in scenes and delivers better focus, especially in low light conditions, with the iPhone 6 including digital image stabilization, while the iPhone 6 Plus has optical image stabilization.

An improved video camera also enables slow-motion video to be captured at 120 fps or 240 fps.

The iPhone 6 screen will boast over 1 million pixels, the iPhone 6 Plus more than 2 million pixels.

The handsets, with faster Wi-Fi built in, also feature an A8 chip, which makes graphics 84 times faster than the original iPhone. The devices also are 50% more energy efficient, although battery life remains about the same as the more recent iPhone5s. The iPhone 6 Plus, however, features a longer battery, given its larger size.

Still, the A8 chip marks an improvement over previous iPhones, given that it’s 25% faster when it comes to processing power and boasts 50% faster graphics.

Calls can now also be made via Wi-Fi when cell conditions are poor.

Can’t trickshot me!
All the new smart phones are really starting to look the same, all huge screens, thin enough to easily snap, and rounded edges. I think the new iPhone is really bland and boring looking. Apple is going right down the shitter with their new phones, they defied Steve in every way with all their new devices and I just can't tell if it is a good thing or a bad thing anymore... and on top of that those fuckers still only put 1gb of ram in their new models, why??? almost every new phone has like 2gb or more, its actually useful to have more ram
