At first I thought its very pointless having a smart watch. However I've been debating lately on weather I should buy one or not but like you said I might wait until the 2nd version of the watch comes out as it'll be better and probably cheaper too.

Depends on the price, the one i want is the middle model, Im gunna guess it will be like £400 but yeah all depends

It's always best to wait until at least the second generation when it comes to Apple. They proved that with practically every product line they ever released.
