Is there finally competition to the highly successful Tap Tap series and the answer is yes with the arrival of Rock Band available from the App Store for £3.99 with 20 tracks to tap along to either as Bass, Guitar, Drums or vocals. This game makes full use of the ipod's/iphone's touch screen with its user friendly control system. And pick up and play style or world tour mode if you have some time to burn.

Gameplay
While the music is blearing through the headphones or speaker you have to follow the coloured bars that flow down the screen the aim is to tap on screen on the appropriate plectrum or drum pad as the bar passes over the appropriate colour. The games features easy, medium and hard settings it will be a challenge for all. While the game visualisations are ok they are no where near the amazing patterns or bright colours of the Tap Tap games. Which for me seemed to make it less fun to play. The games modes are quick play where you can select anyone of the 20 tracks, world tour which is the campaign of the game. And multiplayer however when i tried this I could find 0 players but could be down to me having a jailbroken ipod. There is also bluetooth for 2-4 players.

There are also a further 6 songs you can download while this is no where near as many as Tap Tap the songs you get are very good.
Why it's different to Tap Tap
Unlike Tap Tap which has focused on the presentation of the game with fancy visuals Rock band has kept it more simple and focused on the tracks giving you tracks that are not free on Tap Tap. This makes it more enjoyable if you care about the music than the looks but Rock Band still looks good.

Pure genious aspect
A unique and cool feature this game includes if Facebook integration allowing you to compare scores with your friends and also show of your worlds ranking to your friends. Pushing you to try that extra bit harder to impress them.
Conclusion
If you care about the tracklist in your game go purchase this but if your looking for a pretty App with a large download section this isn't for you. If you love your rhythm games, Rock Band is the perfect choice for releasing your musical joy .With achievements, leaderboards, audio indications of mistakes and even multiplayer aspects, you will find it hard to find a more entertaining game for the money.
