I connect my ps3 slim using my iPhone 4's portable hotspot.
I don't know the serial numbers for my ps3 and what not and i dont feel like getting up and checking. :p
But i did get it for christmas in 2010 if that helps any.
Lemme know if this works, just tryna contribute thats all.

Cake is a lie
Is that basically tethering within your 3G connection? Because that might create quite a bit of lag.

I think what he might be doing is if your iPhone is connected to WiFi in your house then setup a personal hotspot it means you can connect to that wifi through the iphone with whatever it is you're trying to use. (Kinda like bridging I think?)

Don't see what difference it would make though

Naw i use my 3G Connection and i have decent 3 bar connection.
you don't really notice the "lag" unless you had a strong 4 bar connection before hand.
What sucks is that when someone calls you it drops to a 1 bar but when they stop calling it goes strait back to the 3 bar.
Its better than not playing bo2 at all, right? :p
i'm sure you all will agree.

I've got a rooted android and tethered my slim that can't get online and it didn't matter besides the PS3 downloading 5mb of data on sign in. Really curious WTF sony pushed to my system on sign in...

If this works for you then you might be IP banned and a simple call to your ISP stating that you'd like your IP (DHCP Lease) reset. If you use technical terms i.e. Hey, I'm having issues with certain websites and a buddy of mine that works in the IT field mentioned that he was able to resolve the issue with a DHCP lease reset resolved his problem, can you drop my DHCP lease and allow my modem to pick up a new IP address please? may actually get you further than telling the dumb ass at your ISP "I need my IP address reset."

Good luck guys! BO2 is great if you can get over the crap lag compensation and spotty connectivity.

I've tried tethering my phone's LTE and that didn't work either. And you are most certainly not IP banned considering anyone and their mother can change their IP. Based on my findings I really do think the people who can't connect are actually automatically banned from Blops 2... Just hear me out but to test this I made a new account, tried it on my PS3 that works and I could connect. I then proceeded to try that on my other console that doesn't work, I couldn't connect. I then tested my other console to make sure it could connect to the servers and proceeded to try the new account, and guess what? I couldn't connect to the servers anymore (keep in mind they're using the same internet.) Any account I try on my bad PS3 no longer is able to connect to the BO 2 servers. So it has to be some kind of console and account ban. No amount of finagling has enabled me to connect to the servers on my other PS3 or other accounts. Maybe it detects some how if you've jailbroken your PS3 in the past. I haven't had it jailbroken in 2 years, but I still had multiman on it for some reason so I guess it checks for stuff like that? If anyone else has any ideas, I'd love to know.
