The first thing is, is that the ranking system is not based on just kills and highest rounds! Its based on how good you are.

Let Me Explain What Im Talking About

-Its based on your career play!
-Kills
-Shots Fired
-Accuracy
-Gibs
-Headshots
-Miles Traveled
-Downs
-Revives
-Doors Opened
-Perks Drank

So if you do good one game you may be a totally RANK!!

*NOTE*
-You can also get deranked if you do bad!

-I'll post more information when Treyarch releases it!

I'm starting to think the ranking system is kinda flawed

I played too games one after each other, both times my PS crashed and my ranking went down

This post is mostly wrong. You rank is not based on any of the leader-board stats as they are listed. I have people who have a higher rank emblem on my friends list and I have them beaten on everyone of the stats you mentioned.
Also, you can get "deranked" by doing nothing. I went home for thanksgiving and came back and I went down 4 ranks.

about the "derank"
you can get deranked for getting a lower round than 20 (if you have the knife behind the skull) the derank rounds are lower depending on what rank you are, depending on your rank you need to keep a higher round every game or you lose xp/get deranked, you get deranked for leaving a game (GOOD REDUCES RAGEQUITS) deranked for disconnections, deranked for host migration fails, anything that disconnects the game. and also you ALWAYS get deranked for leaving & disconnecting no matter what, you either get deranked or lose XP which will make it longer to level up like if you wanna level up and you leave a game, its gonna take xp off you and make it take even longer to level up, this is why a lot of people rank up heaps quicker and one more thing, you lose xp and get deranked if you go down a lot (only depending on your level it counts on how many times your allowed to go down before you lose xp) thats all i know about the deranking system there might be more to it or i might be wrong but thats what ive figured out
