i was highest rank - shotguns and blue eyes. then after one game with 60 kills and 0 downs i ended the game and it deranked me to the skull with knife and blue eyes... the ranking system is fucking shit

K/D is PART of how you level up. You might have better K/D than him but maybe he has better rounds survived than you.

I have 60,000 kills and shitload of downs.. like 700 = 85% K/D (falling asleep and leaving ps3 searching for games = shitload of downs LOL)
My round survived is usually in the 50+
When I got 85,000 kills and about 720 downs = 118% KD , this is when I leveled up. I also got to round 68 here.

Skull with the knife is about 70-90% KD but also rounds survive plays a factor

Your k/d does have effect on how you rank up had the skull with the dagger for over a month went high rounds 65 solo and avg 40+ rounds .. My ratio was 168 started playing custom game and got my ratio to 220 and I got my shotgun emblems get a crap load of kills and few downs and you will rank up fast btw k/d is kills to downs not death for this instance and get your accuracy up as well ... It seems the more you play, the higher you rank? I haven't played for a few days and I was deranked to a skull with shotguns, previous to not playing for a few days I had the mark five and blue eyes, I kinda assumed it came down to how long you spend playing, how frequent you were. It is what they want isn't it, people to continually play their game?

I disagree with you. K/D is not the only factor, but it is a big one. It's also about how much you play. My main account which I have been playing on since the game came out has a K/D of around 100, but it is top of my friends list in almost every stat, with 80,000+ kills, 1500 Miles traveled, 786 perks, 701 doors, 831 revives, 31412 headshots etc... But that account is stuck at knife with blue eyes.

I then started playing on my second account I got Knife in 6 games (f'd around in 2 of them), and Shotguns in a week and a half. That account has a K/D of around 250, but it has less then 1/4 the kills, Revives, miles traveled, perks drank, and everything else. That account also doesn't to beat or tie any round record of my main account either.

So K/D has alot to do with it, maybe you just don't play enough, but either way the ranking system is a giant terd nugget Treyarch gave us.

He could have had a high kd then fucked around keep in mind that you can't lose a rank just tallies, that kid that said he Went from shotguns to knife obviously expirenced some sort of ranking glitch

You can loose an emblem if you do bad enough.

Yes my cousin went from knife with blue eyes to skull with 4 tallies
