Step 1: Have a friend waiting in custom game LOBBY with party limit set to 4. (He only needs one controller)
Step 2: Connect Second Controller and start your own custom game
Step 3: Join your friends custom game lobby with the second controller
Step 4: While it is joining you will be at the custom game menu in your lobby, quickly as fast as you can go to edit game rules, create a class and go to Vanguard Class 1 and click on the first perk and just wait on the menu where you can pick one of the perk 1 perks
Step 5: Stay at that menu and tell your friend in party chat to go find a match, you will get two error messages, dismiss them. (whichever game settings you have for whatever game mode)
Step 6: Once you're in the lobby, you can back out to edit game settings and just stay there as the lobby fills up with players.
Step 7: Once a map is chosen, load your game settings and then back out of the second controller
Step 8: As soon as the countdown begins suspend your game with Spotify for around 15 seconds and reopen Black Ops 3
Step 9: Have people join and start boosting

Step 1: He has to stay in custom games until you join "With one or two controllers my friend must have while i join him with my two controllers?

Step 5:When u join your friend in the custom game u have to stay in the perk menu (where it lets u choose perks) then your friend has to back out "He backout and i dont get an error"

then you would get an error then your friend can go find a lobby then once u join a lobby" Any lobby in public match?!

wait for a map to be choosen then edit game rules then back out of menu and controller 2 (so u only have one controller) then suspend the application before the game starts then wait 20-30 seconds and open bo3 up and u should have it

Does the friend need two controllers? or can i just use two? and maybe edit the first bit and he sets it to 3 players if he doesn't have a 2nd controller? thanks

He don't need two controllers.
And your friend don't need to set party limit to 4. It works with 18 also.

Patched. Was hosting right before the update and now it doesn't work and just shows map in bottom left.
