Hey everyone.
When Black ops 1 was released, there were a few EBOOTs that people with custom firmware PS3s could replace and get max prestige, level, unlock everything, and have tons of COD Points. You guys remember that? Well, needless to say, everyone that did that got ultimately got their consoles permanently banned from playing Black Ops 1 online. I bought Black Ops 1, did the EBOOT mod and got banned within the first 2-3 days of it being released. Real bummer right? I didn't get to play online at all. I did throughout the new Call of Duty releases try to play online on Black Ops 1 (hoping that they unbanned everyone), but to my surprise (not) they still hadn't unbanned me.
Well, yesterday I got on my PS3 and decided to try it again because my little brother had been wanting to play it for a while. I kept telling him that the PS3 was permanently banned from playing online on Black Ops 1, but he insisted that I try it. I deleted all of the save data and game updates, and was prompted to updated the game when I booted it. I updated it with no problem, and the game started. Typically, if I remember correctly, the game would always freeze for a few seconds during the cinematic intro (it started doing this when I got banned). This ceased. I thought to myself "Hmm, maybe with the release of the PS4 they unbanned everyone?". I went ahead and went to zombies and playstation network to try to see if I could play online. This is where I always got the ugly "This PS3 has been permanently banned from playing on the Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 Servers. For more information...." To my surprise, this didn't pop up this time and I was free to play online!

R: If you were banned from the "the game just got released, let's hack it EBOOTs", you may be unbanned now.
