on xbox 360 if you try to use the clan tag IW it has an error message so what you do is change your clan tag to ".IW." wihout the " of course... then change it again but this time just remove both .'s and there you go :p

It means Infinity Ward it's the clan tag for employers at infinity ward only, so i guess people would think they're cool or something it's for attention wanters really
