Because if you would 2 PS3's you could just sign out, boot up the 2nd one and sign out there too. Then come back at a, let's say 50,000 killstreak, you could just sync your stats to the IW servers. If you aren't in such situation, it can still be handy to prevent people thinking you have no-life by playing CoD4 all the time.
