COD4 Patch Editing

As the Thread Title says, this is only going to be Basic Editing and not in depth as I'm not a great coder myself. I was looking for ages but I can't find anything that actually tells you how to Compress/Decompress a COD4 Patch? I decided to give it a go myself and found out that there are two files, which I think are supposed to represent rank.dat? Well here goes!

QUICK EDIT: JUST TO LET YOU KNOW, WHEN USING XP LIKE ME, IT DOES NOT WORK! I ONLY DID IT ON XP BECAUSE IT'S MY MAIN MACHINE. I ACTUALLY PACKZIP/OFFZIP AND STUFF ON MY BROTHER WINDOWS 7 LAPTOP. I'M NOT SURE ABOUT VISTA BUT YEAH THE CMD'S DO NOT WORK ON XP! Happy Carry on..?

First you will be needing the Offzip and Packzip files.
Download them here: You must login or register to view this content.
RK's Patch_mp.ff: You must login or register to view this content.

BIG EDIT: If you want a list of COD4 Patches to edit, go to this link - You must login or register to view this content.
Credit's to jimmysz for the patches post Smile

Now I find it easier to create a new folder on my Desktop called 'Pack' and put my Offzip/Packzip/Patch_mp.ff inside it. You should do the same because it's just makes the process more simple. Now once you've put them all inside the Pack folder, Open up your Command Prompt (CMD). On Your CMD Type

    cd desktop/Pack

Your CMD Should look something like this:

You must login or register to view this content.

Now what you want to put is this:

    offzip -a -z -15 patch_mp.ff ./ 0

Should look like this (But more below this):

You must login or register to view this content.

This should put a hell of a load of .dat files into your Pack folder on your Desktop. What you need to do is go into that Folder & Delete all files apart from:
0002cbcc.dat
&
000295f3.dat
Your folder should look something like this:

You must login or register to view this content.

These are the files that we are going to be editing. Now Basically Open up 0002cbcc.dat in a Notepad application (I would advise you to download You must login or register to view this content.. It's freaking awesome for this kind of stuff)
When you've opened up 0002cbcc.dat, you can edit all you want and go nuts.
If your using RK's patch, the one I've posted above, then you can hit:
CTRL + G & make sure the 'Line' button is selected & type 1906. This is the Welcome Message you get when you go into the lobby, so you can edit this and change what it says. There are loads of other things you can edit But I'll let you find them Happy The other file is for editing too but I haven't actually done anything in that file yet, but if you know how to then go for it!!

Now your finished editing and all you want to do is transfer your patch and go freaking nuts on COD4. Well first you have to Make sure that both of these files have the correct filesize. For this you will obviously need HxD Editor which is quite popular and I would already think you have it, if not just google it I'm in a rush Happy (I'll put link soon)
On 0002cbcc.dat, in HxD there will be loads of 00 00 00 00 at the top. First of all scroll all the way to the bottom and click JUST after the last Value. If it is 10000 offset (In the bottom left hand corner) then you are okay, But if it's less, then scroll up to to the top and add more 00 00 00 00 00 until it's 10000. If it's over 10000 then you obviously should remove some 00 00 00 00 until it says 10000. It needs to be this size otherwise it won't work.
Same with 000295f3. Right at the end needs to be 10000 offset. If it's not, adjust the number of 00 00 00's so it becomes 10000. On this file, the 00 00 00 00 are at the end of it, not the start.

NOW you have to Shove that file back into Patch_mp.ff otherwise you would have editing for nothing! Don't worry Compressing doesn't take long!

Go back to your CMD which you should still have open, and type:

    packzip -o 0x0002cbcc -w -15 0002cbcc.dat patch_mp.ff

Hit Enter, then type in:

    packzip -o 0x000295f3 -w -15 000295f3.dat patch_mp.ff

Again Hit Enter! Your Command Prompt SHOULD be looking something like this now:

You must login or register to view this content.

That's it! You have edited the Patch! Now all you have to do is get it transfered! If this is your first time editing, you might want to check if you have a black screen on your Jailbroken PS3 first after you trasnfered it. (In other words, go onto COD4, Hit Multiplayer and if it loads, it worked, if it doesn't, there's an error!)
Again I'll say I'm not the best of Thread makers or Coders, so please don't tell me something I already know! I just haven't seen any of these threads around and I have seen quite a lot of people asking how to do it.

Thanks for reading & REP+ if this helped you! Also, please could people Flame me if I have missed something out. I feel the only way to learn is to get owned by someone.
