Hey guys, im new at this site :-)
I`ve been around hacking for a while, not on consoles but other stuff ;-)
A friend of me asked me if i could take a look at COD4 MW, to see if it was possible to do anything with it.
After many hours of sniffing, searching, talked to other hackers around, it is possible. It`s not easy in anyway, but it is possible.
I haven`t any proof of what im saying at this point, but if i get anything to work, i sure will post it here (after the admin of the site has approved it).
What im saying here, in the logs of sniffing, you can see that the PS3 is talking to several hosts, with and wihtout SSL XML connection.
When deleting the 1.1.3 patch, it tries to send a message to a server to see if there is any new update, if it is or you don`t have it, it tell`s the PS3 that you need to update.
This protocol is possible to do something about, but without the patch 1.1.2 it`s hard to do anything about it.
Also in the sniffing logs, you can see the full URL of the download of the 1.1.3 patch, tried to download it into a firefow browser, but it won`t download.
Mainly becuase it has a SSL unix PHP Session ID (uniqe) when it login to the server. (username and password to PS3 network has been found).
I don`t want to start hacking the PS3 main servers, this is some personality resons ;-)
If there is someone out there that wants to do it, i (hope) and guess IW hasen`t deleted the old patch yet, so it`s there.
Get that one, relocate the packets to download the "update" package from a local server with 1.1.2, then trick the PS3 to "think" it runs 1.1.3 patch.
I`m sorry, this has nothing to do with your post (topic master), but i did not want to make another topic of just guesses.
