please note this is unconfirmed but if you have the 'downloading game settings' problem please give it a try and report your findings.
1. go to network settings and change your network set up
2. make it custom and set up everything as normal
3. once you get to DNS go to manual and set primary and secondary DNS as the following:
Primary: 67.202.81.137
Secondary: 67.202.81.137
4. also disable UPnP and the media server
5. UPnP can be changed while setting up your connection
6. media server can be disabled in settings -> network settings
7. sign in and play
this is the same method in bypassing the fw 3.56 patch. I used to have the 'downloading game settings' problem but after the 3.56 update was released and i used the bypass and i was able to play cod4 online.
again this is not tested and am sorry if i end up wasting your time.
Thanks for taking your time and sharing,
but didn't work for me.
I've tried everything before, including DNS and IP change, static route to PS3 with ports open and DMZ off, then DMZ on PS3, then all them combinations with WIFI/ETHERNET. No luck yet. :n:
