i just noticed in the cod4 iso's there is no pup file inside the PS3_UPDATE folder but every other game has one? maybe thats causing the booting failures?

mabe place the PUP file into the crash+report and error folders,that should work.

I have cod4 on a external hdd, and im using multiman 15, my pup is there, it still doesnt boot, I dont know anyone who has a working backup of cod4
