The difference is that this only works for prestiging. So that means it doesn't make your rank go up in the leaderboards. You know where you go to barracks > leaderboards > score/accuracy/kills/wins.

So for example if your rank 15555 in the score of the leaderboards and you do this, your rank in the score of the leaderboards will still be 15555.
