The situation:
I'm in Uni accommodation. When i try play either cod4 or MW2 it kicks me back to XMB as soon as i connect into the PSN. I assume this is because it tries to verify my game with the PSN. Unfortunately due to blocked ports it is unable to do so.
The network is managed by the UNI. All ports are open for outbound connections. However inbound, they're mostly all blocked. Unfortunately, after querying they wont allow students to have static ips for port forwarding etc.
Only solutions i can think of are as follows, but i don't fancy doing either, as i'd rather like to keep my place in university!;
-port tunneling
-Trying to map the network(using nmap etc) to find the DMZ, and force my ps3 to get a static ip in this domain.
Only other solution i can think of is using a proxy to intercept the communication between the server and my ps3 in order to send a response to the ps3's verification check.
Would anyone be happy to lend an idea?!
cheers, any help is appreciated.
Craig!
