(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); so iv got YDL on my ps3 for some stupid reason, and i went on it for the first time in a while today, and i went to 'my computer', and because i had the cod4 disc in my ps3, it also came up on the disc drive on YDL.

so i clicked on it, and obiously it had all the cod4 ps3 files and stuff on it. and i was just wondering, if you could get passed the 'read my only' file protection thing, you could put some hacks or do something with the files.

i now this might seem abit pointless and probably wont get us anywhere, but who knows..

I wouldn't know how that part of hacking works, but it looks interesting. Shame everyone hack-wise in offline :/

Dont think it would work as it has to read the patch so you're on the same server with anyone else. If it didnt check it properly you wouldnt be with everyone. So basically like bypassing. Other than this i dont think you can make anything from this problem

What you're talking about here is ISO hacking, arguably the most powerful and effective hacking method for Call of Duty 4. Unfortunately though it's probably the hardest too due to all the write protection and restrictions on the disc. With ISO hacking the possibilites are near limitless as you could, for example, create custom weapon skins and character costumes (i.e a ghillie suit for every class, or make yourself look like Cpt. Price). You could also edit the default commands within the button configs. For example, "buttons_default" could be edited so that it functions in exactly the same way but has a bind for god mode. If it was edited into the actual config file itself it would work on any patch. Any mods made to the ISO would be impossible for IW to patch too. The downside is it's incredibly experimental, very difficult and most probably illegal. You'd get banned from PSN at least. But if you want to give it a go, good luck to you and I hope you don't completely wipe your CoD4 disc. Smile

It's funny you should mention YLOD, because my 60GB got it the other night. :(
Having read around it's a problem caused by the solder melting around components on the motherboard or a failure in the power supply. It's sometimes caused by a bad HDD, but that's fairly easy to diagnose. I don't think that modding a disc could cause a YLOD, maybe a Blu-Ray laser error at best, but I would still advise anyone attempting to ISO mod to consider the possible dangers and consequences for their console.

well yeah thats the first thing that came into mind when u thought about modding the disc, you would be able to modify the costumes and guns and stuff, but like you said, all files are well protected, and then theres the high risk of getting banned from psn, and im not realy whilling to take that risk, so its wise just to stick to save data hacks for now

I see what you mean and I completely understand. the problem is sava data hacks are so limited now and hacking the patch is looking less and less likely to yield any benefits so ISO hacking will be the last resort. I bet when MW2 comes out a few brave and adventurous hackers will have a tinker with ISO and may find some pretty awesome stuff. It just depends on who's brave enough to take the risk :p

^ That was stupid?

Anyway it seems like someone will ISO hack, it's worth a try anyway.
