My dad was in the military and he said they were campaign coins. These coins are given to soldiers for their duties or by other higher ranked soldiers. These are the things you give to family members or close friends. They have a huge deal of significance. It means so much to be able to receive a campaign coin from a soldier. BO2 did a spin off of it.
