Post: US Midnight Release: Gamestop vs. Best Buy?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so I have a question since this will be my first midnight release. For US people who have been to a midnight release before, which is better: Gamestop or Best Buy?

I have a choice between the two and was wondering which was the best experience (faster service, shorter lines ... etc.). I know stores vary, but I want a general opinion.

My Best Buy and Gamestop are like 5 minutes apart and the Gamestop is in a mall if it matters. Which do you recommend I pre-order/midnight release from?

It's not the end of the world either way, but I'm curious.

I'm certain that half the people that were screwing around in the store already had their games, but they wanted to have some fun while it lasted. I wasn't there more than 5 minutes. But again that is just my experience.

nice. I guess it depends on the Walmart and the amount of people in town. There are benefits of getting it at Walmart for sure. Moreso than Best Buy or Gamestop. I am just defiant against giving Walmart more of my money. Only 5 minutes is good though.

I have been to both Best Buy and GameStop for midnight releases; both usually do some sort of activities for the customers outside waiting for the game e.g. video-game monitors and Xbox's everywhere, Rock Band, music, give-a-ways etc. But personally I like Gamestop better since they really reward the people who get there early, I got there at around 6PM last launch and I got posters, food, and everything they were giving out. Sure Best Buy does it too and both give the game out really fast, like going in before and paying it off that way you show the receipt and just heading out as soon as you get it. But it's all preference, but bias wise, GameStop FTW Happy

Thanks for the opinions everyone. I guess I can't go wrong either way, but I'm probably gonna check out Best Buy tomorrow and pre-order from them. I would consider Walmart, but it's kind of in a bad part of town, and I don't feel like driving all the way out there at midnight lol.

Don't get me wrong but, both lines will still be long our best bet is to think of some stores (like shoppers drug mart in canada where I live) sells it midnight release but doesn't advertise it.

Really? They have midnight releases at Shoppers? Wow. I should've preordered there then. Do they get Nuketown 2025 and all the other cool stuff too though?
