Over the past week a lot of people, including myself, on forums has expressed that they are constantly being matched up with ultra tryhards with high above average KDs and SPM. This is sometimes a great thing, close games are fun sometimes but at the same time nobody wants to go full try hard EVERY game just to manage to go positive. Although a lot of people have experienced this there has been no actual confirmation of the skill based matchmaking until today when David Vonderhaar replied to a tweet from youtube commentator BlameTruth who said "So Vahn, is there skill based matchmaking in the normal modes or no? I face good and bad teams, just wondering." Vonderhaar then replied: "The matchmaking system is only as good as who is available to play with at that point in time. Skill is one part of the measurement."
So there you have it, skill based matchmaking is a thing in public matches, not only in league-play. I'm not quite sure what I think about this yet but I think it will be pretty frustrating. The most fun thing in a COD for me is demolishing noobs and kids and rack up kill streaks, that feeling is amazing. If I want competition i should be able to go into leauge play but I don't want to try hard every single game in pubs. What do you think?
