I have an open NAT Type 2 and and Ethernet Cable into my PS3. I opened all the ports needed and i still couldn't win a normal gunfight. it may sound strange to do but if you are experiencing the same and nothing seems to work. give it a try

Write down your email and password of your PSN account.
All your data will be removed from your system including downloaded games, patches, savedata etc.

Go to ''System Settings'' and select ''Restore PS3 Sytem''
It should say something about deactivation, don't know if it matters but i did deactivated my account.

Then you can chose between ''Full Format'' or a ''Quick Format''
I did a quick format because a long format takes about 7hours.( I will do a full format tonight)

When your PS3 is done it will reboot like the very first time your booted your PS3.

Done!

Note: when you can't play the game anymore because you get an error about the Trophy Registration, make a new account, delete the other one and sign in again.

This won't fix lag aka latency.
It pointless doing this , just wait until Trey/Sony release a patch for the log in issues.

I don't wanna groan you. However, dude it's not THAT serious to play Black Ops especially since people with great internet speeds still lag. I mean I suppose if someone doesn't care about their trophies or find ways to back up files it's not that bad but this is a little extreme. I don't see how this would fix lag in the least bit. But hey maybe I'm wrong

You really seem to think that this would take care of server lag? The game is still new, people are buying a copy everyday, tons of people log on and it slows the servers. Don't listen to this guy. Big waste of time formatting your HD.

Many people of my clan already did it and confirmed they had could play normal, no more hard locks and instand hitmarkers, before i did this i had to shoot for 1 sec before i got hitmarkers, not everyone in the same lobby had the problem

Has anyone else had any luck with changing search preference to best?!? I have yet to have an issue with lag and that was the first things I did. I'll admit it may take me a minute or two to find a match.

Then again it may be dumb luck for me...

when you choose quick format you can get all your downloaded data back by putting your ps3 in safe mode and restore data.

Couldn't you just open ports on your router or DMZ it? or just wait for the patch? I like the suggestion but formatting the PS3 is too long even with the 'quick format' option

I think the lag seems to be getting better, its realy bad if their is a team of 6 of you, ive been solo playin KC and not having any lag probs just lately, i did do the install textures n left my search @ normal.

One positive thing is when it is properly sorted we will all be getting bare kills cos we been used to usin a full clip on a kill
