Question is is it worth upgrading to the top spec ones apparently they are so good its like you are cheating?

I wouldn't do it. I'm music producer too. Using Trittons AX Pro's downstairs @ PS3, but last few months i was too lazy to hook them up. I've been playing with some cheap ones (just plug in stereo mini jack to my Pioneer Home Cinema) and i would still sound whore the same, just not in 3d, which doesn't count really except playing S&. I don't use my Trittons for music producing, i just don't like this punchy bass on them (which is excellent for gaming purposes).

I like sennheiser for music, the turtle beaches are good for gaming though.

a fellow audiophile! I wouldn't recommend the upgrade though, I don't really believe the claim "so good it's like cheating". The way I see it, all over-the-ear gaming headsets grant you the ability to sound whore.

Yay i knew we were in hear lurking somewhere! I love sound so much i took 3 years out my life to go to uni. I just graduated actually so its Sonofpops dip.hed BA hons lol

Now people know i really am a nerd lol. You guys would have loved the university studios all that legendary gear and synths that we could never possibly afford lol. The mixing desk is amazing pearl jam rent it over the summer!

I just bought the turle beach ear force tango, they are amazing!! plus they are rechargeable so that's a HUGE plus.

If you want to upgrade, get Astro A40s!

After all these years i've been playing clan wars (lan parties) using my axpros and friends other big 'gaming' brands like astros, i can honestly say what already been said above. Any full size headphones that costs above 30 GBP will give you excellent ability to 'sound whore'. Its just i used to like to be a 'PRO' to impress with 'proper' gear. I still have expensive equipment to play on PC (CS and COD4) but most lan games i hook up mdr-v55 which you can get for 60 GBP and i 'rape' just the same using them. Btw they beat Dr.Dre Beats by miles.

I would upgrade because you dpx will go out in a couple months
