This isn't advice a lot of people will agree on, but if you switch your NAT type from OPEN to MODERATE it seems to give me less laggy games. I can't really describe how it works, it just did, for me and a couple of friends. Now this is coming from my connection and my experience don't hate if it doesn't work for you.

Totaly true bud the better and more expensive your internet is the more lag you will get, those that do better live in there moms basement and run off there mom,s 20 a month internet ,it,s pure b.s and needs to be fixed we suffer because we pay for better internet makes alot of sence does it not? There are counteys that have bad internet at best and those people will always be better even if there really not good game set up.....ya

It might not be lag ,did you get the a new modem? Also do you have the texture download/change you matchmaking to best (that can actually help a lot).If you did it all of that then I think it might be Buffer Bloat , i heard about it since i have some few issues with the game freezing for like 10 seconds.I hope i helped if not then try doing some more research on it and hopefully you will find how to fix it.Heres the link if you want to try it yourself:

You are being foolish if you think lag means people suck.

My advice to the OP is to call isp and ask to be placed on a gaming profile

I've been having this issue since I've had my new internet connection aswell, back when I had a regular 20 MBps connection I was doing fine every game, my K/D was around 2-3, since I have an 50 MBps connection, I have an incredable amount of lag, I get killed before I can aim down, it seems like they just need a couple bullets to kill me while I have to put in a whole clip to get the kill (my aim is fine).

So yeh, I totally get it, have the same problem. Lag compensation, dumbest idea ever.
When friends come over they're all amazed by how much lag I get, even though I have the fastest connection we can get in our town.

Sorry to bust your bubble but I get this problem. Sadly due to the nature of networks it a problem which can't be fixed, which is why we have clever things like "Lag compensation"
But Lag compensation is evil!! Ok watch the following 2 videos.

video 1
video 2

Did you see evil lag compensation ? the answer is no that a PC version of COD4 (Modded with some weapon changes) with lag compensation turned off. Yes that's what the game plays like when you turn it off.
Latency is a changing number it never stable and the same, sometimes you get random jumps in that number nothing you can do.
Notice something you have to fire in front of people and guess locations in order to get a kill unless you are hosting. Which case you get a free god mode and become untouchable.
Sooo for 150 rep which one of video is showing the hosts point of view, care to guess Smile ?

Bandwidth does not mean a faster connection just you can handle more data at a given point. Your line is just a massive water pipe make the pipe bigger does not mean it's faster just more water can go though.
Ping tests are used to test delays aka speed *that is incorrect term I think.
So you have 20ms ping great delay for that server and time of the day.
Ping tests only work if you test on a number of servers (to areas you are likely to play against) and different times of day. You get a average idea of ping and what the highest number it could go up too on average.
If you played on a PC with ping showing you know how much that number could change and jump. Also a delay in it does so it and may be wrong at the same time.
Quality of service is also important how often your line drops the packets.

When I first started call of duty , the same as you due to a couple myths I was told. It was not until I started to read up on this stuff and experience that I worked out it was wrong.
What I said about matchmaking is true , people have an expectation the game is going to play flawless all the time that is incorrect.
For the most part it works!! Millions of players being paired with others close to each other ping flawless. This game for me plays like MW2 almost flawless unless I play on wireless which case it can be iffy.
The matchmaking could be tuned to be harsher , which should improve how the game runs. Lag comp is a term used to describe a problem with a number of different sides , it also been given the wrong meaning.

So can we please stop blaming lag comp ? and put to bed the good connection myth. I used to play online games on dial up!!

Ever since I downgraded to Dial up I have been unstoppable! I drop swarms almost every game and I hardly ever die. It is way better than any other service out there.

Thanks to those who have tried to help out, I did some research and I added my PS3 to the DMV (opening all ports) of my router which has seemed to have fixed the lag for me and Im back to playing as I use to. I've heard of it before, and it real easy but decided to give it a try after I finally got so fed up yesterday of the lag that I was looking everywhere for answers and placing the PS3 in DMV quickly fixed it.

I encourage those who do have the same issue as me to try and do the same and see if it helps.
