Black Ops Membership Rumor Squashed
The ominous membership rumor, finally brought down...
For those of you worried about the rumor regarding a pay-to-play service on Call of Duty: Black Ops, this should shed some light on things.
One of the biggest things that brought fear to Call of Duty gamers was a video showing possible proof that Activision was planning on establishing fees for their Call of Duty titles. Here's the video:

Firstly, how would Activision or Infinity Ward let such a video be released? There's no doubt that if it was true, it would have been taken off of the internet very quickly as have leaked videos in the past. Granted it's almost been a month, it's obvious the Call of Duty developers aren't very concerned about it being on the internet.
Many have claimed that it would be a beta version that messed up. That would make perfect sense, if a beta even existed! If you don't believe the fact that there is no beta, check Josh Olin's Twitter announcement

There is only one thing that benefits this rumor, and that would be the well-known statement that really got people fired up against Activision:

Chances are, granted Activision knows how their community feels about such a change, it will not happen.
The wrap up...
I myself was worried about this possibility when it was initially brought up. All of the above information should give you peace of mind about the rumors, and the likelihood that a subscription service isn't something we'll be seeing in the Call of Duty series for the time to come.
