Post: Prestige Misunderstanding...READ

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Weeks ago Treyarch made a poll on the Black Ops site asking how long should a prestige take (worded much differently). A lot of people took it in a way that you must play that amount of time before you can prestige. This conclusion was also posted in the news section. Now the idea was that this was to prevent hackers, but I don't think that would do much at all. However, I do think Treyarch worded it wrong and caused a big misunderstanding.

I think they were asking how long should reaching the highest rank approximately take. For example, MW2 took about 2 days to reach rank 70, WaW took about 1.5 days to reach 65, and CoD4 took a little more than a day to reach 55. In that poll 24 hours won the vote. Now when the MP teaser trailer came out someone said something that gave me an idea. I payed close attention to the ranks of everyone in the trailer. I came up with a conclusion and posted a thread with this:

I compared some of the ranks seen in the video to the other CoD games and here is what I noticed:

Highest rank seen in the video is 41 and thats Brigadier General(one silver star), in CoD4 that was rank 43.

Someone was rank 34 in the video, that's the Lt. Colonel rank(silver leaf), in CoD4 that rank was 37.

Same with the rank Major(gold leaf), level 31 in BO, but level 34 in CoD4.

So we must be looking at less ranks than CoD4, I'm guessing about 50.

EDIT: OK some people are doubting this part saying I'm wrong. First of all, I may not be 100% right, it's just a GUESS. They could change it before the game is released for all I know.

50 ranks would put the approximate time to probably 24 hours for the average player if they don't increase the EXP needed for each level by too much. That's why I think that poll was the reason they put 50 ranks. They could still require you to play 24 hours to prestige, but I doubt it. I'm not 100% positive on this, but it makes sense to me and I just wanted to explain to the rest of you what I found and see if you agree.

If you read it all, thanks for not being lazy. :p

Personally, I agree with the original poster. When I first saw that poll, I didn't think it was a time lock, I thought it was them trying to figure out how many ranks they should put in. I also can confirm that he is right, and there will be between 50-55 levels if his theory is correct.

The split screen hack was found first, but that was patched like 2 days later. That was back in December, I know all about it because that's how I got to tenth. After that split screen had no effect on hacking in MW2, it was all jtags from there.

Dude split screen remains the easiest and only way to Prestige Hack on PS3 (besides challenge lobbies), it just requires a bypass because like you said, it got patched.
JTAGS can be used to hack any game on Xbox though right? Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't own one or know much about it.

That's not the point. The point was people reading the poll question wrong because Treyarch worded it wrong.

Oh yeah I forgot about PS3, I don't have one so I'm not really on top of it. But still jtags are an exploit through the console itself, not MW2. Same with bypassing, you can't do that on Xbox that's a problem with PS3 itself, not MW2.

Yeah exactly. Why would you need any other hack if you had a JTAG haha. But yeah I know that, does that mean Black Ops will be able to be hacked through a JTAG on Xbox no matter what though? Can you hack all games with a JTAG?
I know thats definitely not the case with PS3, as only 2 people can do it, so I doubt they care much.. But I still stand by my assumption that they won't enable Splitscreen saves, not if they want BO hack-free anyway (which is what they've been saying).

Well I don't think every game was hackable by a jtag. World at War wasn't hacked by jtags. Since Treyarch is making Black Ops I hope it won't be either. We don't know if Black Ops will even have split screen and even if it does they would probably test for exploits.

Oh really? That being said, I'm sure that Treyarch would have the brain to enforce that in BO then. Yeah thing is, I'm sure that people will always be able to find an exploit as long as the function to Load and Save Splitscreen is there. It may get patched for Xbox but not for PS3. Main issue for PS3 is Hunter and Unkn0wn lurking and starting up lobbies the day of BO release as I highly doubt that the anti-hackers working with Treyarch know how they hacked MW2.

I think Treyarch will be smart about it. I think besides all the under map glitches in WaW that game was pretty secure. Not to mention they patched them pretty quickly. From what I hear the PS3 leaderboards aren't too bad. On Xbox the first 500,000 on kills/score/wins is 99% hacked. That's BAD.

Yeah I'd hope so. I didn't get W@W till quite some time after release so I didn't really experience those glitches haha. PS3 leaderboards on W@W or MW2? After Derek released the leaderboard tut, they are well beyond ridiculous on MW2 haha. I'm inclined to think that more people tried a lot harder to hack MW2 over W@W though, so who knows..

I was talking about the leaderboards on MW2. The last part is probably true. I hope hacking doesn't go as far as it did on MW2, or anywhere at all for that matter. I won't be cheating my way up this time either way, going all legit. Smile We might be safe on the Xbox side because I heard the new xbox update coming out before Black Ops will auto-ban jtags if they go online. Not sure if that was true though, I hope so. :p
