(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); What's in store for Call of Duty?

As some of you may know, the two owners of Infinity Ward were laid off recently by Activision. So this leads to the question: what will become of Call of Duty?

Activision has announced that the next COD will be released late 2011, but it's not going to be made solely by Treyarch either. Sledgehammer Games has decided to step up to the challenge. Proof can be found here: You must login or register to view this content.. They will be joining Treyarch and the rest of the Infinity Ward team. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited to see how a company I have never heard of will compare to past Call of Duty's.

So what about the ex-owners of Infinity Ward? They have gone and created a new company-Respawn Entertainment. They have managed to sign a deal with EA Games on their first day. They are starting strong with "seven million capital" from EA reports the LA Times. The two former Infinity Ward owners, Jason West and Vince Zampella, are not alone. Joining them will be lead designer Todd Alderman and lead software engineer Francesco Gigliotti from Infinity Ward. They will most likely be competing with Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games, as they have decided to continue making FPS games.

Law suits are being thrown back and forth between Activision and West and Zampella, so expect some more news on this in the upcoming months.

This is my submission for the News Team applications. Please tell me what you think! Anything that I could improve on? I didn't know where to post this, as it belongs in General Gaming News, but I can't post there.

I hope you don't mean that I copy/pasted from somewhere, because I definitely didn't lol. I might have not been the first to reveal this, but I saw nothing about it here, so I decided to share, and why not place an application for the News Team at the same time? lol. Although, now reading the thread that JimEarased posted more carefully, I don't think this story fits into what he wants. I was rushed on time. I also forgot to put my source in the application, but I put it in the original post.

Thanks Owufail!

Well said. They are making a game that is certain to have a very large audience. If they can't deliver, then a ton of players will be pretty angry.

I hope that the two names Treyarch and Sledgehammer develop along the system currently in place. The ability of customization in BO is far higher than any call of duty that has previously been made. I think if these makers can deliver a higher level of detail in online maps and make the characters more customizable then this game will pass all other call of duty's. I think the new game will deliver like no other online multiplayer shooter has ever gone. Then again it could totally be screwed up by Sledgehammer and deemed awful.

Let's sit back and watch this game develop, the era chosen should be interesting to see as well. Most of all the wars have been made into previous call of duty's.

Sledgehammer made Dead Space, so it could actually end up being in space.

But why is no one talking about IW? They are still making MW3
