(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hiya, I've been scouring the PC version of Black Ops to use the audio files to find any secrets in the game, like i did with WaW way back.

Problem is the WAVE files in this game do not have a Header, and therefore will not play in ANY audio player or converter.

this guyon another forum said if i copy pasted some Hex code he gave me into the beginning of the example Audio file i was usings hex it would work. So i did that using HxD and it actually did work...

Except that small hex string didn't make any other file play when i applied the same techinque which means the header string must be altered specific to the file i want to play (seems obvious)

I have no idea how to do this, does anyone else know how i should change and apply the correct headers to each .Wav file?

Nono I'm just looking for a surefire way to make a header that would work for each .wav file so it can play in WMP or similar. As of right now i have a header that works for only one file, but not the rest.

Why would a .wav file not work in a .wav capable program for playing sound files? That makes no sense dude.

Because TA made them without headers, they only work in the game because it has instructions on how to play each file already built in.

like this one?

maybe it could give wrong timing in your .wav, but so far i didn't notice any problem, just maybe your wmp couldn't play 'em, use jet audio or WinAmp.

edit with Soundbooth or another sound editor if you want to fix the those problem

I found this out also. I could not get the audio files to work in any media program even though it was a .wav file.

The header posted doesn't work for all of the files :( There a bunch that have file names that start with "vox" (zombies audio) that are just screeching sounds even with the header.

Sorry for the bump, hope this is worth it.
I made a solution to this issue, it's a tiny tool which handles COSad Awesome BO's .iwd files (for PC) and extracts& automatically fixes all the .wav's (dialogues, voices, screams, you name it) to the appropriate folders from them. It also works for music, stereo and mono files and gives proper length information. All .wav's you get are MSADPCM 8 bit codec. Should work in all media players.
No headers to insert, you just drag the .iwd's inside an .exe, more info in supplied read_me.txt.
