like in a glitch, and i run out of ammo, should i quit or like just leave my ps3 on because he dies eventually?

No. I've used the time he's alive to explore many glitches (while he tries to get 2nd player who's on the table). Once, I let my PS3 on overnight, and when I came back, he hadn't died! I was still on that level.

yeah he dies, for me its usually two clips of the mp5-k and hes dead.
