KILL WITHOUT MERCY
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); As we all know the economy might be in a slump, but us gamers stoped at nothing for the new release. We pull through all of our pennies and spare change. And bought the new release of Call of duty Black Ops. We broke the record of the previous release MW2 with a wooping 360m (£223m). Thats a lot of money beats all the box office movies being released. Harry potter got nothing on Call of duty lol. Of course we just see a big number and not factor in the cost to make the game and of course the developers got to get paid and other bills like advertising. Anyways hopefully some money goes into better equipment, new ips and also new graphic engines. Anyways that's not my point of this thread.. Just some Back ground on what activision has accomplished with the call of duty series. They are rolling in money, because us as consumers love COD. But recent reports and various sources indicate that the ceo and some stock holders aren't content with the revenue. $360,000,000 million dollars is not enough they want to take it to the next level. The company has been rumored to want to charge for online play. I mean that's a big deal specially for me i not once have played story mode i'm more about the online competitive enviroment. And i know most of the gamers that play COD is for the online game play. So if Activision starts charging a subscription will any of you devoted gamers pay to play online. I mean imagine the cost some of us already have to pay X Box to get online and now we need to pay to play another game seperately. I think this is a wrong move again the ideas is coming from blizzard aka the creators of World of Warcraft. But we can't be put in the category of a pc game they only pay for the internet, we pay for X box live, Psn is free. But that would be too much money. Is this a wrong move by them? Factor in that right now online play on PSN is pretty bad and they want to start charging for a laggy experience! Again this topic came up on G4 and it's recent hopefully Activision does the right move. What those the community of NGU think?

I think this is extremly old and you need to inform yourself better. I am going to post this once and for all.

This is from Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg...DIRECT QUOTE

"Are we going to be charging for multiplayer? The answer is no. The experience you have out of the box, connecting with the online community to play Call of Duty is absolutely integral to the experience and we’ll never charge for that. It’s not going to be something we’ll attempt to monetize; it’s part of the package,” Hirshberg stated.

Additionally, Hirshberg addressed Patcher’s claim that the company might try a variety of subscription options, saying “Nothing we or anyone else tries is going to work if it doesn’t have tremendous value for people and add a tremendous value to the gaming experience. He’s probably looking at meta-trends in the world and in culture about online services and new ways things should be monetized from Netflix to cloud-based computing. So there are certainly a lot of behavioral shifts towards long-standing online relationships… But at the end of the day, all I’m trying to get across is I can unequivocally say we will never, ever charge for the multiplayer.”

I realize that this will never happen, and it's probably a good thing. But if charging for multiplayer would mean dedicated servers then I would consider paying depending on the price. The lag in this game is unbearable!

I paid $160 for prestige edition of B.O. and $60 for a reg edition for my 2nd PS3 which I keep for guest and stuff there is no chance I will pay for online that's a big negative specially when I pay for PSN+ and they give us a PS3 game that is inferior to the XBOX SYSTEM which I find ridiculous.:hitman:
