ok, I see your point, but if COD wasn't meant to be realistic then why isn't there things like spaceships in (yes there is zombies but it's not a serious part of the game). Halo is a game that is not meant to be a realistic shooter, COD is meant to be a realistic shooter. I realise that COD couldn't be completley realistic because if it was it would be so boring in you died from 1 shot especially on multiplayer.
But you have to agree it is realistic compared to other inentially unrealistic games like Halo.
I actually think one shot kills would be completely fun. It'd make it an actual challenge.
And I don't think you fully understand the concept of realism. (Well, I'm sure you do, but everyone comprehends things differently.) If Call of Duty was meant to be realistic, then (this is only one of my reasons to believe that Treyarch did not intend Black Ops to be realistic) sniping would be more difficult (i.e. Coriolis Effect, wind-direction/pick-up, etc.), and it would be more like a simulation than a game meant to entertain people (as CoD is).
The gaming industry's top motivation (besides make tons of money) is to entertain us, the consumers. And in order to do so (like you said before, you don't think that one-shot kills would be fun, which is the perfect example) they can't make a game too realistic because people don't want that. People want to feel like they're in control, like they're making the decisions.
If it were more realistic, people would not be able to do that, as too many things are getting in their way. Now, I'm addressing online more than I am the campaign. As far as guns go, the one hit kills make sense, but the aiming with scope weapons (especially the crossbow) is definitely not realistic. Especially when you've just sprinted ten feet, and quickly aim and shoot. It's just not the way things would work out in real life.
As for the spaceships and aliens and everything Halo has, that really does not matter. We're referring to the aspects of gameplay, the core mechanics of it. Almost nothing is realistic about Halo, but that's not just because of the storyline or setting, it's because of combat and gameplay. Black Ops story could be one of the most realistic ones out there, but that doesn't change the fact that the actual gameplay could be completely unlikely and unrealistic.
I'm not trying to change your opinion, btw. If you think that this is complete bullshit, that's fine with me. I'm not trying to cram my views down your throat. *wink* I'm just saying, before you automatically assume that anything or anyone messed up, consider the fact that it may be the way that it is because it's the way things were intended to be. Well, I probably could explain exactly what I mean by this (because even I'll admit that this is kind of vague), but it's like 1 o'clock here, and I'm extremely tired. So if this sounds kind of out of place, it's because I'm tired as heck. xD
