Black Ops is very different from MW2, in good and bad ways, but one thing that varies from every game is the guns, and what you can do with the guns. So I thought, why don't we have people post some of there favorite guns/attachments, and why they may help other players:

My Favorites:
I have 2 favorite guns.

AK74u - For some reason, this gun is just so nice! It is available at lower levels (this is helpful to people who like the Ak47, which is unlocked at a later level) and works well with almost any attachment.

Famas - Extended Mags; It is just a really good gun, now that it is fully automatic. Although it does take a few more shots than others to kill, it has a very fast FPS and the iron sights are easy to shoot people with.

G11, Commando, Ak-47, M16A1, and the Cz75. All pure epicness.

Python with anything other then sub nose.
ACOG looks epic on it.
Speed Reloader is kinda needed at times
Duel wield = easy kills.

And for SMGs: AK-74u ofcourse :p

The AK74u is the easiest to use. It's like the UMP45 of MW2. And if people say anything else, they are wrong.

I personally like the MP5K with Extended Mags, Commando Suppressor, AK-47 Suppressor, and the PSG1 with no attachments.
