Treyarch’s community manager Josh Olin has admitted there were concerns recently when the PlayStation 3 was hacked.

“As a platform provider this problem is much graver and has much broader implications to Sony than it does to us. To us, it’s like, it has implications on our game security but we built in a lot of in-game security that we were leveraging and utilising so it was kinda like flipping on a switch for that. I remember the meeting after all the headlines broke, though, and we were like ‘well, I guess, it’s time to turn on the security for the PS3 now’!”

Olin also threw in his two cents regarding the individuals that had caused the PS3 and Sony so many problems adding:

“It’s unfortunate and I think the hacking community with their rational that it makes their homebrew apps possible on the PS3… I mean, okay, that’s their argument but they know the larger implication to the players who don’t want that and the people who can now modify their game data.”

lol i doubt you will get unbanned, they already made the money they had to. And btw there are more legit players than hackers, and there are more hackers than the people who are banned, so to that, i doubt that there are more than 5,000 PS3s banned from black ops servers, so what does 5k people mean for a company that generate billion every year? If you were talking about 400,000 players were banned, thats another story. Got it?

So don't get your hopes up thinking "I'm getting unbanned because they significant amount of money".
oh and i almost forgot, this is another downside for you, more hackers = less legit players playing the game. So it means if there are more hackers, people will start hating the game and stop playing or even buying DLC, so hackers are not getting unbanned because that also means less money

15 prestige is no big deal. Everyone can easily obtain it, it just takes time. Banning for aimbotting, god mode in a game etc, would make sense for a perm ban but just 15th prestige? Cmon Treyarch... Get good.

It's more like it

Treyarch is going to unban us, but as previously stated, only for the money. Money-hungry sharks are what they are. The only reason they're doing these ridiculous' bans are simply because pirate's may be able to get the Ascension Map Pack for free. At least, that's my theory.

They should just make a server for hackers. keep us all happy.

Don't hold your breath

I don't think they care about 500000$. And even if they do unban, treyarch would've lost all the players they banned by the time the new maps come out.

How many of those people do you think are actually going to buy the damn maps? If anybody who has been banned actually gets unbanned (0% chance anyways) and buys the maps, they should just go to Xbox because they must be used to getting banged by 2 at once. Treyarch in their wallet and Microsoft up their asshole.

I'm not banned and will NOT be buying these maps. If my friend buys the maps, Ill gameshare it off him, but I will 100% not be giving Treyarch anymore of my money.
