(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I'm looking for a new headset, I'm not all that sure what to get. Wireless would be nice, but it's not essential. I'm looking to spent about £200 at most. I was looking at getting the Turtle Beach Px5's but there is no release date and I could do with a new set pretty sharpish. So NGU, enlighten me. What is the best headset money can buy?

edit: would be nice if they worked on both consoles, but I don't think any headsets do that...

Some would argue with this, but the Aatro A40 headset with mix amp is probably the best you can buy. A pair of Sennheiser's may come in a close second, but isn't cross-platform compatible.

There are many popular headset brands out there that are of great quality. Some of these include:

  • Astro
  • Turtle Beach
  • Tritton
  • Sennheiser

This is the heaset I use.

Trust me when I say the best money you could spend, will be on TRITTON AX PRO'S and yes you can hook up XBOX to it. Tritton AX pros are true 5.1 Surround and SOUND AMAZING. Astros are OVER PRICED and SOUND the same as Trittons. TB are ok if your going the cheap route but do yourself a favor and get TRITTON AX PROS. The one con the headset's have is they are not WIRELESS. :hitman:

Almost forgot you can get AX PROS for your price, actually under they run about $180 U.S. if you wan't to OVER SPEND then ASTROS but they run about $200 W/OUT the MIX AMP which is another $100 or so.

The Turtle Beach PX21 and the Tritton AX180 are surround sound if you plug them in via composite cable (PS3) Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

No, those are not surround sound. They use the regular red and white composite cables and there is NOTHING else you can use them for. You can use Tritton Ax-720's with an optical cable and those are pretty good. I have a pair myself, though you might want the $50 step up or so and get the Ax Pros just because they are true 5.1 surround sound. They have 8 speakers in each ear, the Astro A40's, Turtle beaches, and Anything Ax 720 and below only have 1 in each ear. Doesn't make much of a difference except the environment isn't simulated (The headphones with only 2 speakers simulate 3d while the Ax pros actually can produce it)
