this is Optic Predators first sniper montage in black ops. It was made before the sniper patch. Notice a few things.

Scope goes to direct center of crosshairs (normal QS)
you started out with 10 bullets in the magazine on the L96 A1 (extended mags) but had 30 more bullets.
This is a more balanced sniper rifle.

Notice he has sometimes where he has been shot at, yet he can get the kill. This is not the case with snipers in this game. You have to be playing against some really bad people to get the kill after they have already shot you if you have a sniper out.

What I thought at first, but when he walks over bodies he does not get the scavenger emblem appear.

I snipe with the PSG on certain maps in Hardcore Search and Destroy... and the hit detection is still poor. Many times I have it dead center, not even trying for head shot, just to hit them... and nothing. Kinda frustrating, but oh well.

Watching that sway pissed me off. I hate the sway right now, way to much. People say this game is balanced. I disagree. They gimped snipers. And will probably never "fix" them. :(

I didn't think so when I first started hearing about that.... but now, I have to agree. The sniping on this game is very unbalanced. I recently started sniping, and easily can see the difference. Only a few maps even able to realistically snipe on...

I dont really snipe because i get too frustrated..I do the odd time but not that much :P

Problem is........
Should a sniper be good at close range and mid range that the problem.
If you allow them to be good at close range you get what happens in MW2.
Players trying to pull off insane shots and just failing. Annoying the crap out of your team and doing nothing.

Trey have in effect tried to keep the game focused on helping your team without giving you any rewards. I question that logic....still it a good try.

I do think alot of users killed sniping by pushing it limits too far.
Also hate the term QSing it still sniping just stupid sniping.

Another thing is people go on about hit detection explain ?
Hit detection is picking up on hits. Hit boxes in this game are fine problem comes with certain weapons.
Snipers did have quite a bad time with hit boxes and objects.
Meaning i could get a head shot but because he behind a box. The box around the box blocked the shot because the game saw it as air.

That the only problem with hit detection i seen so far.
Yes i know what your going to say i fired at a guy never killed him.

That hit detection is something COD games have always had and down to networking factors.
Not much the game can do apart from pick users who are stable better and syn up the game more.
Only problem with doing that is wireless users on 2% won't be able to play COD or lag switchers.

Test the hitboxes offline your see the hit detection not half bad.

Right now sniping is ok for bigger maps because it suits it however users need to learn to use the sidearm more unlike past games Winky Winky
Do feel trey got backed into a corner and made a design mistake.

I see what you are saying completly. However, when a guy is standing in the middle of the road on Havana, I have a clear shot on his chest, I hold breath (Scout), it pauses, I fire, then the guy moves one way two or three seconds later, and nothing happens.... That is bad hit detection. I have heard many on the mic saying they were watching such shots, and can verify all above is true.

This happened on Hardcore S&Awesome face, so one shot usually takes them down. I have shot people int he ankle placing the bomb and it has killed them. But when you shoot someone in the chest and it doesn't even register, sometimes irritating.

Trey have made the sniper not center on the scope. Which means until the sniper sits into the center your shots are off.
That why the scope moves.
It alot less then it used to be and gets to center faster.
Also made the sniper random when hip firing.
Hit detection would be if your following him fire at him (near the edge of him) yet a hitmarker. Because the hit box is bit forward meaning the shot does not reg as that point you was aiming at. You not hit him to the game where you hit his arm.

Or it a networking factor
