There's a difference because treyarch/ infinity ward didnt want to waste your time getting show once on the foot or shoulder and just die instantly. & sometimes realistic people get wounded from that kind of shot.(excluding the head or the gentle organisms.)

Even from less than a mile away you can hit someone once and they won't die. If you shoot someone's hand off, that shot won't kill them unless they bleed to death. When you get a hit marker on the game, it normally means you just shot them in the arm or leg.

Snipers in real life are trained. They know when to shoot. Snipers in CoD are NOT trained so they don't know where and when to shoot to get a 1 shot kill.
