At the official Modern Warfare 3 reveal event in London Jamie Berger, VP Digital at Activision outlined free, premium and top-tier subscription packages for Call of Duty Elite.

“Call of Duty will not charge you for multiplayer.”

However, Berger stressed that while there are paid-for elements of Call of Duty Elite, Activision will not charge gamers to access Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer component.

Berger explained, “There has been a lot of speculation on this point, but Call of Duty does not, and will not charge you to play multiplayer, and that is our continued commitment to our players.”

“We have tens of millions of players playing Call of Duty every month,” Berger explained, “we know that group of people is too large and too diverse to create a one seize fits all pricing strategy.”

Berger continued, “We know that when our fans buy Call of Duty, they expect to be able to play the full game out of the box at no additional charge, in both single player, co-op and the best multiplayer in the world. That is our continued commitment to that.”

I bet call of duty elite is going to be the only way to get certain weapons or something e_e But atleast the online will be playable without "elite".

this is why people get mad in the first place about this kinda crap. somebody posts something innocuous like "pay for weapons" and people fly into a hissyfit.
