Yes it still works.
1.) Go within normal knifing range of a zombie
2.) Press the switch weapon button (Y OR Triangle), then knife really quickly
3.) Your character shouldn't do the knifing animation - this is good
4.) Switch weapons (so you have the gun you originally had)
5.) Go to the spots shown in the video and look towards the zombie you primed it on and knife
