It is a good idea. What sucks is like it was stated I would guarantee people will just have a female character account just to do so. Just a bunch of horny guys pretending to be women or messaging every person with a female character. I wish it was tied to your PSN account's gender at least to help distinguish actual women since at least on Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4 taking the time to make an account to troll would be costly.

Being able to add other races for characters is cool too but this will just facilitate the 70% ready to call someone a racial slur and/or call a woman a C word or calling them a fat whore.
