wannabe pro's and bolt action fans like the intervention but people who pick a gun by its actual advantages and strengths will pick the barret every time.

i don't think so, thermal is fantastic.
on your typical map there is little need for it as anyone with eyes can see people clearly.
but on maps like underpass and wasteland it can be difficult, i love sniping with the barret cold blooded and thermal, its literally counter snipe heaven lol you destroy enemy snipers.

Intervention wins hands down for me.
The only thing the barret has going for it is that it's semi-automatic. I don't quickscope, and i always aim for the head which means for me the slight damage difference is nothing at all and doesn't matter.
What wins it for the Intervention is the slightly improved accuracy, i've lost count of the amount of times i've been hardscoping the area to try and spot someone through the scope and a bullet from a .50 cal has flew past my head which lets me know where they are and kill them before their scope is steady enough to get a 1 hit kill on me.

how many times do i have to repeat myself to people lol every gun is 100% accurate, the intervention has NO advantage over the barret, not 1 single thing is in the interventions favour.
if the bullet missed you its because their crosshairs weren't on you when they fired.
