Post: Please Keep the MW2 Forums Clean

And don't wear it out.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Modern Warfare 2 forums are becoming a huge mess, in more ways than one. People are posting bad threads, bad posts, they're mistreating users. The moderators can only do so much. Please read as much of this as you can possibly bear, It's only a few minutes of your time and hopefully it'll be worth it.

If you already think you are a fine poster, at least check the MW2 section of this thread, as we can all use a little help there.

***THREADS***

First off, I spend at least half my time in this section sorting through all of the new threads that are actually worth reading. Unfortunately, not many of them are.

1. Think before you post.
This rule is #1 on NGU, yet it still seems to be the most overlooked. Does the thread you are about to create deserve to be a whole thread? Often enough, entire threads are completely pointless or should be posted somewhere else.

For example, about half the threads in this section could go here:
You must login or register to view this content.

2. Read through your thread before posting.
Will your thread make sense to other users? Huge blocks of text are nearly impossible to read, especially the ones that have no punctuation, and are just ten line long sentences.

Try numbering your ideas if you're giving a list or tutorial, or try sorting them in some other way. If anything, remember to take your time typing a thread. There's no need to rush, and if you do, your thread will make little to no sense and be closed anyways.

3) Do not post pointless threads.
It feels appropriate to put this rule after the last one. If your thread is closed, there's no need to make a new thread complaining about it. It happens a lot, and nothing is more annoying. If this is your problem, just PM the moderator that closed your thread and ask him why.

Although not posting pointless threads seems like common sense, apparently it's not. Just remember: Think before you post.

***POSTS***

1. Think before you post.
Look Familiar?

Just think about your comment before you send it in.

2. Don't Flame.
Don't like the thread you're reading?

Then leave the thread.

3. Don't say "Mod Close This".
There is a button on the bottom left corner of the post, which reports the thread to the moderators. Use that button instead of asking a mod to close it, because one way they'll no they should close it and the other, they won't.

4. Try not to have full, unrelated conversations in threads.
I know I've done this sometimes, but often enough it's just bumping up a thread that doesn't need to be bumped, plus it's just stupid. If you realize you're having a post conversation on something besides the thread, start PMing the other person instead.

*** MW2 ***

1. Not Everyone is a n00b.
If you were to look through all of the posts in the MW2 section, you would find each and every weapon, attachment, perk, and killstreak called "n00bish".

Infinity Ward did their best to balance out the game. Enough Said.

Some of the more commonly accused n00b items:

ACR- It's an incredible gun. That doesn't make you a n00b if you use it. It just means that you know that using a good gun gets you more kills. Think about how stupid you sound when you say that someone's a n00b because they're using one of the best guns in the game.

Heartbeat Sensor- It finds enemies. Why wouldn't you use it?

Grenade Launcher/Danger Close- If you are using the grenade launcher often, than it's just logical that you should use danger close with it. It can make the difference between a kill and a hit marker.

Knifing Classes- You can kill from miles away; they can kill from feet away. Just check your back every once and awhile, and you'll find it's easy to kill them.

Killstreak-Destroying Classes- With the power of some of the airborne killstreaks in this game, why wouldn't you have a class to destroy them? Sure it might be frustrating when your harrier gets shot down within five seconds, but that doesn't automatically make the person who shot it down a n00b.

Care Packages- Sure they can get high killstreaks, but they're liable to be stolen by other players.

I'm sure you get the point. Just because somebody you don't like uses a weapon or perk, it doesn't mean it's n00bish. All weapons, perks, and kill streaks have their purpose.

2. Use the Criticism Thread.
If you disagree with anything I said in the past paragraph, go ahead and let your fury out here.

You must login or register to view this content.

That's the right thread to complain about something on.

3. Patches are not bad things.
Everything patched may be a disappointment to us, but they're for the good of the game.

Like the 1887's? Those were ridiculous. Sure a lot of us loved the old version, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't have been patched.

The care package sprint- It was patched not only because everybody was abusing it, but for the sake of realism. How is putting an RPD on your back and pulling out an airdrop marker going to make you run twice as fast in real life?

Unlimited Care Packages- Really? Why on earth do you get mad at them for patching that? If they let it go much longer it would turn into something like the old Javelin-Martyrdom Glitch. Everybody would know how to do it, and there'd be 5 AC130's in every game.

These patches are all here for a reason. I miss the patched stuff as much as you do, but I'd be a lot madder if Infinity Ward didn't end up patching it. (Imagine in like a year when everybody was rank 70 and would be running around with 1887's.)

4. Don't hate game strategies.
If you like run and gunning, you hate camping. If you like camping, you hate run and gunning. That doesn't mean either strategy is cheaper. It just depends on which one works better for you, just like which gun you use depends on your taste.

5. Stop with the weapon polls.
Maybe this should have been earlier in the guide, but whatever.

There have been so many threads that are just "What is your favorite Assault Rifle?" Or "What is your favorite pistol?" Most of these have already been posted, and are just to get some easy rep. It's interesting to know, but come on, there used to be so many that it's ridiculous.

6. Sniperfrog isn't real.
Hopefully most have figured this out already.
It's just a myth made up by some kid who was angry at his laggy connection.

How illogical is the whole concept anyways? Help the bad players, and torment the good ones? It's one used in some video games, but not on a level as strong as Sniperfrog suggests. Deathstreaks are here to give an advantage to the losing player. Nothing more.

If you disagree, may I suggest checking this thread out:

Happy

Well thanks for reading this huge thread, hopefully you agree with a lot of what I've said, and if you're one of the people doing this, hopefully you'll stop or at least do it less.

I know I'm not a moderator or anything, I'm not even premium, but I've been here awhile and I've seen NGU do better. Let's clean it up guys.

[P.S. I know it'd be really ironic in a funny way if you flame on this thread. Hahahahahaha don't. Smile]

Can’t trickshot me!
Wow I am once again deeply repulsed, not by your post, by the obvious necessity of it. As someone who has dumped thousands of hours as a mod/admin on several forum based sites, I have made similar posts repeatedly. It won't actually help (hopefully you feel better though) in the end, it's the net. People will flame, double post, and everything else, that sucks. On any great site, there will be drama, and arguments, honestly it draws more page views than you can imagine. People love a good flame war, or flat out font f***ing and, it's the members, not the staff or rules that make a site either flourish, or fail. Any truly competent site owner/staff member knows that.

Very good post.

Lots of info and guidelines we should all adhere to, yes I have been guilty of some of the things in there in the past, but I will try not to make the same mistakes again.

I think that this post is a must read for an awful lot of members. If it prevents some of the more useless posts it can only improve the site!!

Thanks picklecow10.
