(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); *If a Mod or anyone with thread moving powers could move this to a suitable section, as I wasnt sure what this would come under. MW2, cos thats what Ill be recording and thats what most people record with the HD PVR. (Soz)*

After 10 months of my Dazzle, im finally getting sick and tired of the pathetic quality. Now Im really concidering on buying a Hauppage HD PVR & a new T.v, only a few things are bothering me..

Ive been doing alot of re-search on different sites and Youtube about the Hauppage and I guess ill get one off Play.com in a couple of weeks when I have saved my cash ^^ I thought because many of you on NGU have the Hauppage and it is Generally a friendly community, this would be the best place to ask.

Lets not beat about the bush here, imma noob when it comes to these kinda things;
When I get a new t.v does it NEED to be a specific type so the Hauppage can record off of it? Like this "720p" or 1080i or "Full HD" stuff? ^^ to be honest, I dont know what they do/mean! And does the better t.v have an effect on Quality? For example if you know M40A3 Predator (OpTic Predator) you’l know his quality is BEASTLY & themightyhutch (Hutch) also has amazing quality, but Predators is better IMO. Is this because of his T.V or Hauppage Settings?

I watched a Youtube video and the guy on it said that once its recorded, it'l make a file something like “ .m2ts” and that only certain programms open the file; Pinnacle studios & Sony Vegas Pro 8 are the only ones he knew that would work. I myself have Sony Vegas Platinum 9. I guess since its a pretty recent Vegas, It should work.. or will It? Is there any way I can check this? Or do you know for a fact it’l open the files.

I also just recently got a new Laptop for Crimbo, I reckon is pretty decent. The guy said that having a good computer/laptop was Crucial. Is: Intel Pentium Dual Core T4300 & 4GB Memory 320GB Hard drive Suitable for it?

Sorry I cant give out vbux for help, but I can give rep and “Thanks” lol.’ I would appreciate it very much if anyone could help me, or let me know about their Hauppage if they had the same questions? Thanksss! <3
Im off to study - Exams tomorrow! :(

480p, 720p, 1080p are different resolutions. higher the number, better there looking. look around for some rendering settings, or edit off of KoopsTV's. His is the best. TVs now a days are all 1080p, but your gonna record in 720p because hauppauge cant recognize 1080p. im fine with dual core 2GHz and 120gb hard drive, but yours will work better than mine atleast. heres a video of mine if you would like to see the quality.

just watch some videos of how to setup and rendering settings, and it should work all fine. Happy

Like the guy above said 480 720 and 1080 are resolutions. If you're buying a new TV don't even consider anything that doesn't support 1080p. As for the HD PVR, the two guys you mentioned have the same PVR the only difference is how they edit there videos. They use a program called Sony Vegas 9. It allows you to edit you videos and improve the quality of your recording.

Your computer should be just fine for rendering your videos.With a fairly good spec like that I assume there is a good graphics card in there.

Some good tips already from the two people above.

I would add that if you're looking at getting an LCD TV you'll want to keep an eye on the refresh rate. the lower the refresh rate the better. Anything under 8 milliseconds is good. The reason you want lower refresh is to aviod the motion blur/lag that comes with fast moving pictures. The game is one of those things. You'll find a slight lag with your LCD HD TV with the higher refresh rates. Happy

Its the editor setting.. in sony vegas 9 you can render it in a certain way. I only have a dazzle but i know that its not the TV that effects the recording quality. You should also set the recording to 10 mbps on the hauppauge program
