Even if you bypass the patch it will only work online for that session which you will not be able to join any games and you will be signed out every at least every minute from PSN. You can only join games at your same game version.

So in short, No it does not work online.

Basicly what alpha said....maybe if you got a group of friends to all bypass and you could play a game of custom classes but you all would be logged out often so you wouldn't enjoy it much.
