(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Alot of ppl have been complaining bout the Thermal Scope and how snow glows white, and heres the reason, and some more info on the Thermal Scope in MW2;

When looking at snow through a thermal camera, the snow will appear white. This is accurate because of the way thermal optics work. Real thermal optics don't detect all heat but rather specific wave lengths of radiation, like Night Vision Goggles. The reason snow appears "hot" is because it is actually reflecting the sun's light/radiation off the snow causing a false heat signature. With the thermal optics it would be like looking at a reflection of the sun in a mirror, the mirror would appear "hot" even though it's actually not. However, it would not have the white hot appearance that it has in-game.

If you're looking for info on other things such as ACOG's, Mars Sights, Holographic sights, or even FMJ bullets && suppressor, heres the link;

I guess if the snow was packed together, but if it would be powdery snow, such as Sub Base, I don't think the sun would reflect off of it ?

So explain to me why the rocks on Afghan don't light up all white then? Surely they must be reflecting sun :confused:

Im guessing the snow is much more reflective than rocks.
Rocks also have a layer of sand on them in Afghan that might stop the sun from reflecting on them.
Not to mention the rocks in Afghan are not smooth, whereas in Derail, all the snow is smooth and packed together.
