What use does it have ? I dont have a clue but im hoping it might help someone much smarter, get us to a point where it sticks.
This is an updated tutorial on how to do it easier. follow any reliable prestige tutorial and after clicking online and prestiging to your desired prestige, go BACK to splitscreen and load the ERROR file on controller 1, now load the PRESTIGE file on controller 1 and if done correctly your PS3 will freeze or lockup if done correctly. Now restart your PS3 and once again follow any reliable prestige tutorial using the same account and prestige AGAIN. Now - when you prestige in the online barracks you should be level 1 of you desired prestige with all titles and emblems unlocked. This does not stick once you go back to normal online play. However if you have a friend bypassed with you and you play in 1 cage match you WILL get legitimate looking stats that stick to the leaderboards much like the leaderboard hack. It will only last as long as you dont use the account to play with or it will revert back to its previous statistics.
I do not have video capturing equipment unfortunately but ive managed to do this afew times (it can be a little tricky sometimes as it doesnt ALWAYS work as im still trying to refine the technique myself, so i suggest you fiddle around with it like i did using the basic outline ive just provided

Ok i do prestiging every day for peeps and i tried to follow his tut best i can, but no success it says cant change stats when you do this so nothing is saved then first time around then when you restart and do it by clicking go online first then its just like doin it normally but still nothing happens after. maybe there is something im not doing correct in his tut? he says dont click go online for the first part then when your ready to do he prestige go online barracks and do it - he says you wil be 0 prestige level 1? like it dosnt work - this is when we get an error about stats plus no change to titles..... please explain.

I'll keep the explanation simple as im using my PS3 to type this, follow any reliable prestige tutorial HOWEVER the part where in most tutorials where it tells you to "Click play online & let your stats load" DONT ! in fact do the prestige hack WHILE your not signed in, once youve followed all the steps & your ready to prestige online, sign in by pressing play online & quickly prestige. If done correctly, assuming its a new account & your prestiging to 10th, it will show you as prestige 9 level 70 before - & when you prestige it will return you to prestige 0 level 1 & seem as if it didnt work at all.
Now quit the MW2 game & restart your PS3, using the same prestige files (do not change to a different prestige or it wont work) follow any reliable prestige tutorial but this time, let your online stats load. This time when you go to prestige in the online multiplayer barracks youll be 10th prestige level 1 with all titles & emblems
