It happens. You have to keep signing in. Helps to have a good connection normally. Wired works better then wireless for this.

The resistance fall of man method prevents the signing in and out which is way better

I had this same problem, Here is what i did to solve it.

Click play online then sign in (it will sign you out correct?)
Now once it signs you out, Go to your PC.
Disable the patch blocker by clicking the red X
Now go to your PS3 and try to sign in again (it wont let you)
Go back to your PC and enable the patch blocker (make sure you click start)
Go back to your ps3 and sign in, It should work !!

If that don't work then do the above but when you disable quit the game, Enable patch blocker and sign in...
Now load up the game and it should stop
