Well, I've been rushing a lot on MW2 lately, and I'm a whore so I exploit the ability to have a shotgun as a secondary, and I ran out of ammo in my MP5K, so I switched to the M1014, and carried on, and I like.. raped. So it influenced me to make a guide, and help others.
The reason being, I feel the M1014 has made rushing feasible again, due to the following reasons which I will now explain in the guide.
Why choose the M1014 over other shotguns?
The M1014 has basically the most balanced stats, meaning that it is good at everything, where as most of the other shotguns are superior in 1 element.
Damage: The M1014 does 40 base damage per pellet, along with the SPAS. However, the rangers have the highest base damage, doing 75 per pellet.
Range: The shotgun with the highest range, believe it or not is the single 1887, as for range I mean the ability to damage an enemy with a shot, not killing power. However, the 1887 is closely followed by the SPAS, then it is literally a dead heat for the striker and M1014, the AA-12 and rangers have incredibly minimal ranges.
Fire rate: The AA-12 has the quickest fire rate, then all the semis and then the pump-action.
Size of magazine: Striker has the biggest clip with a size of 12, the AA-12 and SPAS both have 8, closely followed by the models, which have 7, the M1014 has 4, and the ranger 2. Obviously with every gun the extended mags attachment adds 50% of the clip.
Attachments
Red dot sight/Holographic: I find these attachments useless, on a shotgun anyway. It is extremely rare you will aim with a shotgun, as they are sexy from the hip, so stay away from these.
Silencer: If you want to cut the damage down on the gun, go ahead and use this. You may think using this will help you not show up on the UAV, so what, knife them if you don't want to show up.
Grip: Second best attachment for this gun, it increases the range due to increase in accuracy, nice correlation. But the M1014's main weakness is clip size.
Extended Mags: Best attachment, no arguments pl0x. Increases the clip size to 6, not a big deal on paper, but when you actually put it into place it works literal miracles, so, use the grip till you get this and then use this.
What primary should I use?
Mainly, use an SMG, for the mobility factor, seeing as we are rushing you will need to exploit mobility.
However, if you are on a map such as wasteland, you may want to use a sniper, to get a ghillie suit. Your choice though, I recommend SMG.
Perks
Perk 1:
Marathon would be my preference, and I hope it would be all yours if you were rushing too. Simply because of the fact when your rushing, you tend to be in a rush (not like the clue is in the name) so you will need to be constantly sprinting.
Obvious reasons as to why you shouldn't use the other perks, sleight of hand doesn't benefit you at all, as 6 shells is by far enough to kill 4 odd enemies, then cover and reload. OMA, you can't use a shotgun with it. Bling, if you love the grip, and want to carry on using it, use bling, but otherwise this serves no purpose. As far as scavenger is concerned, I never run out of ammo, so I wouldn't say this is needed either.
Perk 2:
Lightweight should be used ultimately, you move faster, same reasoning as marathon.
Danger close, your only explosive would be your equipment, worthless. Stopping power, this perk has minimal effect on a shotgun, they are 1/2 hit kills without it, and 1/2 hit kills with it, pointless. Cold-blooded, you don't really need this for rushing, even if the enemy spams you with UAVs, you should counteract this by rushing the hell out of them. Hardline, use it if you want, if you can't spare the effort of getting a whole extra kill; essentially if you suck so bad, use it.
Perk 3:
This is a personal preference to be honest, I would choose ninja pro, the reason being, steady aim is not needed, as the shotgun is accurate enough from the hip, due to the spraying of pellets. Commando pro does reap benefits but I find it is really gay, however use it if you want. It does pay dividend when rushing as you can get the last kill via knife before ensuring a safe reload. My view on SitRep and last stand would just be to stay away from them, I find them pointless. Scrambler is also pointless, although as with SitRep and last stand, use them if you want.
Tactics
Do you really need tactics for rushing? Get in at the enemy and make things happen, end killstreaks, make people rage quit, wreak havoc on the enemy.
Conclusion
Hope you guys enjoyed the guide, I will be adding to this depending on the feedback. Please thank/nominate the post? This took a bit of thought. I hope you gained from this, I also hope you enjoy rushing on MW2 again!
Thanks, Sam out.
